The nature of work of a professional photographer depends tremendously on the field of his interest or where he is working. Let's check out the job responsibilities of such professionals field wise.
Photography is a hobby for some and a full-time profession for others. Those who are in this business on a full-time basis have to carry out a wide range of duties and responsibilities to earn a living.
As you would know, there are many types of photographers who are specialists in their respective areas such as wedding, aerial, fashion, wildlife, advertising, sports, editorial photography, and many others. Their job nature mainly depends on the type of photography that they are handling.
There is one responsibility that is common for all professionals, that is taking pictures. They have to possess all the technical know-how in handling their advanced equipment and producing great photos with their work.

Job Description Based on the Subject

A wedding photographer is an expert in taking pictures on different occasions such as a marriage ceremony, reception, birthday party, and other celebration times.
In a wedding, he is expected to shoot every aspect of the ceremony and the reception. He has to take stage photographs, guiding the couple regarding the poses for clicking appropriate ones.

This is an altogether different skill. As the name suggests, it relates to clicking pictures while being in the air, in a plane or a chopper.
Unlike ground photography, the professional has to possess deep knowledge and understanding about taking precise, clear, and vivid snaps of the subjects on the ground, while being in rapid motion that may take him towards or away from the subject.

A fashion photographer has to deal with models who wear the latest voguish clothing and apparel, jewelry, accessories, etc. These professionals are mainly employed by designers and magazines.
They have to help the model to give poses that will best display the products that are to be advertised and brought in the limelight. They might also have to travel to different places for photo shoots.

A wildlife photographer has to travel to different and remote locations to click pictures of animals, birds, and all other aspects of mother nature. He has to be familiar with all the technicalities of the devices that are to be used in his job.
This job comprises a lot of physical stress since you have to take the snaps of subjects as they are and not as you would want them to pose, with you physically adjusting to their postures.

A sports photographer has to be extremely quick in his actions that relate to clicking a photo. He has to use the top-notch equipment for catching the action of the sportsmen. He has to be familiar with the rules of the game and other factors that would help him to take action shots. He has to work with sports writers to include his work in their writings.

Editorial and Advertising

Professionals working in any of these industries (or areas of work) are employed by the press and the print media.
An editorial photographer clicks pictures for including them with stories and articles, whereas an advertising one clicks snaps of the products and services that are to be promoted through the print media. He simply has to capture precise shots that would make the product look more attractive to potential consumers.

Biological photography is a field less commonly known to people. A professional in this field has to work under various medical conditions and capture photos from the medicine, biology, and the field of chemistry.
He may produce detailed microscopic pictures which the naked eye cannot view without the microscope, capture pictures of the operational procedures for further explanations, or even work in forensics.
This is a classification of the job description in some fields of photography. The salary drawn by these professionals count on the field of work, expertise and experience, reputation, and the employer. Note that the mentioned details are just a mere brief explanation about the duties performed by them.
